The US has reaffirmed its commitment to aiding Pakistan in both its continuous fight against terrorism and its attempts to strengthen its economy.
Speakers for the US State Department and the Department of Defense stressed the two countries’ strong bilateral cooperation and shared interests during recent news briefings.
State Department regarding economic cooperation and terrorism
A US State Department spokesman named Matthew Miller acknowledged the tremendous pain that Pakistanis had suffered as a result of “violent extremists and terrorists”. He emphasized that the US and the people and government of Pakistan share the goal of countering challenges to regional security.Miller asked the Taliban to make sure that their area isn’t utilized as a base for terrorist activity in his statements at his most recent news briefing.
In addition, he emphasized the value of bilateral collaboration and said that the US is actively collaborating with Pakistan on a number of fronts, including initiatives to support the country’s economy. “Pakistan continues to be a close partner that we work with on a number of important matters, including improving the Pakistan economy,” he stated.
