The 50-year-old celebrated breast cancer awareness month by sharing a picture of herself with a “patchy pixie” hairstyle.
I am cancer-free now that I have had surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation treatment,” she posted on Instagram.
Fischer said that issues were discovered during a regular mammography, which prompted her doctor to schedule an ultrasound because the results were unclear because of dense tissue.
“They found something in my left breast,” she stated. “A biopsy was requested. I subsequently discovered that I had Stage 1 Triple Positive Breast Cancer on December 1, 2023.
Described as “aggressive… but highly responsive to treatment,” the actress revealed that she had a lumpectomy.
Thankfully, my illness was discovered early and had not spread,” Fischer stated, going on to say that she underwent three weeks of radiation therapy in June and twelve rounds of weekly chemotherapy starting in February.
“I’m delighted to report that, despite receiving daily doses of Tamoxifen and Herceptin infusions as part of my treatment, I’m feeling fantastic.
