Washington: According to statements made, the US prioritizes security-related collaboration with Pakistan and will keep pushing to deepen bilateral ties in this area.
US State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller stated during a press conference in Washington that “we will continue to seek to expand the security partnership between the US and Pakistan […] We have made it and will continue to make it a priority.”
His comments addressed a query on US assistance to Pakistan in dealing with security issues posed by neighboring nations and fighting the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Washington’s guarantee follows Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s emphasis on Pakistan’s willingness to collaborate with the US for the accomplishment of common global goals in his reply to US President Joe Biden’s letter.
The prime minister had also stated that the two nations have been collaborating on a number of important projects in the fields of energy, agriculture, health, and education.
President Biden had earlier congratulated the new government in a letter to Prime Minister Shehbaz. He also emphasized Pakistan’s and the US’s “enduring partnership.”
Biden had promised that Washington would “continue to stand with Pakistan” in addressing the “most pressing global and regional challenges” in the first formal contact between the US and the newly elected government in Pakistan.
The US president also emphasized Washington’s resolve to keep collaborating with Pakistan to uphold human rights and advance development. Together, we shall keep building a solid alliance and tight relationship between our countries.
