Iran has stated that it is willing to engage in communication with the new US government at a time when the Middle East is experiencing difficulties.
As the newly elected U.S. president prepares to take the oath of office next month, Javad Zarif, Iran’s vice president for strategic affairs, has outlined the foreign policy agenda.
Zarif reminded the Republican leader in a Foreign Affairs article how Israel killed Ismail Haniyeh, the former prime minister of the Palestinian Authority, in a Tehran guest house on July 30, 2024, while he was there for Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s oath-taking ceremony.
“It also foreshadowed the difficulties Pezeshkian will encounter in pursuing his foreign policy goals,” Zarif said.
