There were a few scares on the football field, as there are every October.
Illinois, USC, and Alabama all had to overcome possible upset defeats in order to win. With a Big Ten victory over Ohio State, Oregon left its mark. Kansas State defeated Colorado by a slim margin. And Texas reaffirmed why it is the best team in the country.
There have been winners and losers every week, and Week 7 was no exception.
One quack, one quack. In one of the best games we’ve seen this season, the Oregon Ducks defeated Ohio State, handling their biggest test to far. As he led the Ducks attack to victory 32–31, Dillon Gabriel was a beast on the ground. Will Howard thought he had more time on the clock as he rushed to get into field-goal position, which helped Oregon generate 496 total yards of offense and fend off a late surge by the Buckeyes. We can only hope that a rematch occurs in the Big Ten title game or the playoffs, and this will be very beneficial for Oregon coach Dan Lanning.
