Nima Rinji Sherpa, a teenage girl from Nepal, is the youngest mountain climber to have scaled the world’s 14 tallest peaks, also referred to as the “eight-thousanders.”
The Himalayan and Karakoram mountain ranges in Asia are home to all of the enormous summits.
On Wednesday, Nima Rinji accomplished a task for which many have died: standing above the summit of Mount Shishapangma.
The 14 mountains that make up the eight-thousanders are higher than 8,000 meters.
The 18-year-old Nepalese climber’s record is made even more remarkable by the fact that he completed all of the summits in 740 days.
Accompanying him on every mission that brought him one step closer to the record was Pasang Nurbu Sherpa, his climbing partner.
