Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized the need to increase climate financing for underdeveloped countries, saying that countries cannot build true resilience without climate justice.
Without even the means to fund resilience, we, the minus-one emitters, shouldn’t brave the effects of others’ immissions. “Real resilience is impossible without climate justice,” the premier said at the COP29 Climate Action Summit on Wednesday in Baku, Azerbaijan.
At the summit, which aims to raise money for climate adaptation and the shift to sustainable energy, nearly 200 countries are negotiating global action on climate change.
The goal of the meeting is to come to an agreement that guarantees up to trillions of dollars in funding for global climate projects.
