In the by-election, polls are now being taken in the NA-171 Khanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, constituency. The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) are predicted to run a close contest.
The death of Mumtaz Mustafa Advocate, a PTI member, made the by-election necessary.
The polls will remain open until 5:00 PM, having started at 8:00 AM.
Although there are seven candidates running in the by-election, Makhdoom Tahir Rashiduddin of the PPP and Hasaan Mustafa Advocate of the PTI are the front-runners.
There are 526,973 eligible voters in the constituency, consisting of 238,860 female and 288,113 male voters.
