ISLAMABAD Under the direction of Senator Palwasha Mohammad Zai Khan, a subcommittee of the Senate standing committee on National Health Services Regulations and Coordination met on Friday to talk about the high tuition fees that medical schools charge and the actions that the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has taken to address this issue.
According to Senator Palwasha, private medical schools imposed previously unheard-of prices for MBBS and BDS programs in 2023–2024.
The senator went on to say that it is unacceptable that private medical institutes’ annual tuition has increased from Rs 0.8 million in 2018 to Rs 3 million in 2023–2024.
Palwasha criticized the PMDC, saying that it has become an assistant to this unholy partnership and has failed to regulate private medical colleges.
