KARACHI: The Met Office has predicted that today (Wednesday) would likely be hot and muggy with no chance of rain, dashing locals’ expectations for a breath of respite following record-breaking temperatures.
The megalopolis will continue to bake, according to a forecast released on Wednesday by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
But in the province capital of Sindh, the PMD also flagged up “a possibility of a slight decrease in temperatures due to the restoration of sea breezes”.
The Met Office predicts that the port city’s maximum temperature will stay between 37°C and 39°C, with sea breezes flowing at a speed of 18 to 20 km/h.
In the meantime, 30.7°C is predicted to be the lowest recorded temperature.
Following at least eight fatalities from extreme heat in the port city earlier this week, PMD made this prognosis.
The Met Office also forecasted the possibility of rain in Karachi after June 28.
