KARACHI: Areas of the port city saw drizzling and light to moderate rain on Thursday and Friday. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has expected one or two spells of heavy rain in Karachi from August 4 to 7.
The weatherman said, “The effects of the monsoon system will appear starting on Friday (today), with light to torrential rain showers possible in the port city.”
Notably, the meteorological authority issued a warning, noting that while the city may get 40 to 60 mm of rain in several regions, only a small number of places are expected to see record-breaking 100 mm of rain during the anticipated impending stretch.
The meteorological office predicts that rain showers will also likely fall on the city on Saturday (tomorrow).The PMD had earlier predicted moderate to extremely heavy rainfall for Karachi between August 3 and August 5.
Furthermore, on Wednesday night, Karachi had intense downpours that flooded some low-lying sections of the port city, with more heavy downpours predicted.
Last night, there were sporadic showers in several areas of the port city, such as Saddar, II Chundrigar Road, Baldia Town, Defence, and North Karachi.
In parallel, the Met Office has forecast rain showers and lightning in some parts of Sindh due to the likelihood of strong monsoon winds entering the region from Rajasthan and the Arabian Sea starting on Friday (today).
