ISLAMABAD: The neutral expert’s competency was a topic of discussion during the third meeting about the Ratle and Kishenganga hydropower facilities, according to a Saturday article in The News.
The conference was a component of the Vienna proceedings between India and Pakistan, which the latter had started.
The third conference was conducted by Michel Lino, a neutral expert designated under the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960, according to a press statement released by the Permanent Court of Arbitration. This was following written submissions on the subject given earlier in 2024 by teams from the neighboring countries.
According to the news release, “the third meeting concerned the neutral expert’s competence under paragraph 7 of annexure F to the Treaty.” This time, both parties submitted opening and rebuttal arguments.
