Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have advocated for ways to prevent the Middle East crisis from getting out of control and to defuse the situation.
A joint statement stated, “We recognize that crises in the Middle East frequently have far-reaching consequences beyond its borders, drawing on our extensive collective experience in the region.”
“There would probably be major worldwide repercussions from a regional conflict, such as forced migration and relocation, interruptions to global supply chains, and effects on energy supplies.”
In order to “prevent further human suffering” and to defuse rising tensions, the signatories, which include the International Rescue Committee, the Norwegian Refugee Council, and the Danish Refugee Council, demanded a permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
