However, the 61-year-old director of the newest Hulu documentary “Brats,” and star of “St. Elmo’s Fire,” Andrew McCarthy, said that he and his co-stars didn’t always value the phrase that was first used by a journalist at the time.

He went on, “You know, it’s evolved into this incredibly endearing and famous term over time. Thus, I simply like to observe how each person related to it.”

Joining the Brat Pack, McCarthy said, was “like a relationship” in and of itself.
“It’s followed me – every day I hear it,” he stated.
McCarthy claimed in an interview with People magazine that although the people liked the term, the industry didn’t.
He said, “It had professional ramifications.” “The public embraced us, but the businesses reacted to it in a negative way.”
