KARACHI: On Sunday morning, three armed robbers stole the belongings of a News (Digital) employee in the vicinity of the Sindh Assembly.
Three armed men detained employee Sharjeel Ahmed Khan, a social media executive at Geo News, at gunpoint when he was traveling from Liaquatabad to II Chundrigar Road for work.
Along with the victim’s 70cc motorcycle, the suspects also stole his cell phone, wallet, and cash before running away. Sharjeel said to News that shortly after the event, he called the police.
But rather than coming to the victim’s aid right away, the law enforcement officers informed him over the phone that a report had been filed.
After reporting the event, the victim said that the police had promised to take appropriate action once they obtained the CCTV evidence on Monday.
Later, in response to Sharjeel’s allegation, a first information report (FIR) about the event was filed at the Aram Bagh Police Station.
Top officials have frequently promised the public that they would take action to control the scourge, but to no avail, as street crimes have increased in Karachi.
