A man who had nine bullet ants, 110 centipedes, and 320 tarantulas strapped to his body while attempting to flee Peru was detained by police.
According to a November 13 announcement from South Korea’s national forestry and wildlife service, SERFOR, the 28-year-old South Korean was detained on November 8 at Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima after authorities observed that his stomach area appeared “bulky.”
The man’s abdomen was strapped with sacks and plastic containers that contained the insects.
According to the statement, a search turned up hundreds of insects attached to his abdomen in ziplock bags.
