MARDAN: On Friday, in the Takhtbhai neighborhood of Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion near a police van next to the Jalala bridge resulted in at least three fatalities and seven injuries.
Following the explosion, rescue crews, law enforcement, and security personnel arrived at the scene right once and transported the injured to a nearby hospital.
According to the details, the incident caused injuries to over eleven persons. After being taken to the hospital, three of the injured people passed away.
The number of people killed in the bombing that targeted police was confirmed by Zahoor Barbar Afridi, the district police officer (DPO) for Mardan. He claimed that among the injured were two police officers who were riding in the van.
According to the official, the explosive device was set up by the road and detonated as soon as the law enforcement vehicle drove by.
He claimed that the explosion struck a rickshaw that was in the area. He said that one of the dead was a rider on this rickshaw.
The DPO went on to say that when the area was cordoned off, a search operation was started.
At least five individuals, including former senator Hidayat Ullah, perished on Wednesday in KP’s Bajur district when a car was the target of a “remote-controlled” bomb explosion.
Along with four other people, Hidayat, a former independent senator from the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata), perished in the bombing.
