Following Queen Margrethe’s unexpected abdication on January 14, Crown Prince Frederik will take the throne, and the royal family of Denmark has declared the senior royals’ new titles.
Regarding the title revisions, a statement has been released by the Danish Royal House.

“On Sunday, January 14, 2024, HRH The Crown Prince assumes the Danish throne as HM King Frederik the 10th,” the announcement reads.
“At the same time, HRH The Crown Princess will be known as HM Queen Mary,” the statement continued. The King and Queen of Denmark will be the title given to the Royal Couple going forward.
“HRH Prince Christian ascends to the throne and will be known as HRH Crown from this point on.”
“HM The Queen will continue to be Majesty and bear the title HM Queen Margrethe after the succession to the throne,” the statement continues.

Along with the declaration, the royal family posted a caption on its official Instagram account that read, “Changes in the royal family titles following the change of throne on the 14th. January 2024.”
