In Tuesday’s semi-final, British number two Emma Raducanu defeated Viktoria Hruncakova 6-4 6-4 to put her team in control.
Boulter then defeated Slovakian number one Rebecca Sramkova in an attempt to guarantee their spot in Wednesday’s final.
But as the best-of-three match went to the end, Britain’s top singles player lost 2-6 6-4 6-4.
This week, Heather Watson and Olivia Nicholls have been called upon for the first time, facing the Slovakian duo of Tereza Mihalikova and Hruncakova.
