At the 2025 Oscars, Oprah Winfrey and Whoopi Goldberg recently paid tribute to the late great Quincy Jones.
Jones received a heartfelt speech from both celebrities, who were also nominated for Oscars for their performances in the 1985 rendition of The Color Purple.
“Musical genius is the first thing that comes to mind when one hears the name Quincy Jones, and for good reason,” Winfrey stated at the start of the tribute.
The legendary talk show host went on to say, “The man, our beloved Q, had an equally powerful impact on the world of film as a composer and producer. He was the driving force behind ‘We Are The World,’ an arranger and conductor for legends like Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and Ray Charles, and a 28 Grammy Award winner.”
