A guy who allegedly threw a five-year-old boy into a canal in an effort to coerce a woman into marrying him has been taken into custody and charged with attempted murder.
Police say the crime happened in Gujranwala.
A woman from a nearby village had been the object of Ali Hassan’s pursuit. He lived in Faisalabad. Hassan is accused of kidnapping the mother and throwing her five-year-old boy into the Chenab Canal after she rejected his marriage proposal, stating that she was worried about him.
Hassan was taken into custody by police after the youngster was reported missing. Hassan admitted after questioning that he had thrown the youngster into the canal in order to get rid of the barrier to his marriage proposal.
To find the missing toddler, rescue crews have started a search. The inquiry is still under progress.
