Legendary country music performer Toby Keith passed away on February 5th, February 6th, in the company of his family.
After fighting stomach cancer for the previous 18 months, Toby, 62, passed away. The I Love This Bar singer revealed his diagnosis to the world in June 2022.
At the People’s Choice Country Awards on Thursday, he recently accepted the first-ever Country Icon Award. “I want to thank the almighty for allowing me to be here tonight,” he remarked in his winning speech. For a little while now, you’ve been riding shotgun with me.”
In addition to his three children, Shelley Covel Rowland, Krystal Keith, and Stelen, and their four grandchildren, Keith is survived by his wife, Tricia Lucas.
In an interview with 9News earlier this month, the musician talked about his struggle with cancer, stating: “So it’s like, you just sit here and wait on it to go away, and it may not ever go away.” Even if it goes into remission, you’ll still think about it occasionally, he added.
“You take it for granted on the good days, and you rely on it on the bad days,” he continued. I now know to rely a little bit more on it each day.
