KARACHI: Well-placed sources on Tuesday revealed that Andy Atkinson, the pitch specialist for the International Cricket Council, will travel in Pakistan tonight and spend four days inspecting potential 2025 Champions Trophy venues.
The sources state that Atkinson would make three visits, beginning with an inspection of the playing facilities in Karachi. He will travel to Lahore and Rawalpindi after Karachi.
It is important to note that the “initial draft schedule” for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy includes three proposed locations from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
The cricket board has decided that Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi will serve as the event’s locations. The match is set to take place in February.
The precise dates of the eight-team competition have not yet been announced, but it is expected to last for more than two weeks.
The PCB decided on the locations and the itinerary after an ICC delegation visited to perform inspections.
The three locations had also been visited by a three-person ICC team last month. The PCB has already provided the ICC with a draft calendar for the event, which is scheduled for February 2025 and includes matches at these three locations.
