KARACHI: Two senior officials from the Sindh Police’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and Special Protection Unit (SPU) were dismissed following a digital currency robbery in Karachi that was purportedly planned by a group of police officers.
In light of an inquiry report after a “short-term kidnapping” of a citizen, the provincial police department has announced the removal of SPU (CPEC) DSP Raja Farrukh Younus and CTD Intelligence Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) Raja Umar Khattab from their positions.
When abductees are taken at gunpoint and driven around in their own cars for several hours while a ransom is being negotiated, this is known as short-term abduction.
The ransom can be anything that can be offered in return for the release of the kidnappees, from costly watches and jewelry to ATM withdrawals.
