As areas of the US experienced extreme weather during the holidays, winter winds have brought fatal surf conditions to western states and tornado sightings to Texas.
The US National Weather Service issued a high surf alert for the US West Coast through Sunday, warning swimmers and surfers who are not experienced to avoid the sea due to waves as high as 30 feet (9.1 meters) in some parts of California.
A guy was discovered behind debris on the coast, and the weather is being held responsible for several injuries and at least one fatality. The public was advised to “never turn your back on the ocean” and to exercise caution.
On Thursday, tornado sightings and flight delays were caused by storms that moved throughout areas of Texas.
