ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad traders’ community filed a motion with the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday, accusing the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of contempt of court proceedings for “violating” the court’s decision from November 21.
The PTI’s “do-or-die” demonstration was declared “illegal” by the IHC last week, and the federal government was instructed not to permit the former ruling party to hold its power show in the nation’s capital.
The decision was made by IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq during the hearing of a petition submitted by traders who expressed worries about possible disturbances brought on by the demonstration.
According to the petitioner’s expert counsel, life in the federal capital completely stops anytime there is any political activity, protest, or other protest, the IHC’s top court wrote in a five-page ruling.
