Declare
A social media user uploaded a video clip of numerous kids protesting in uniform on September 11 on X, formerly known as Twitter. The video’s caption announced the expulsion of a “Qadiani” instructor from Superior College Sambrial, Sialkot.
Over 43,000 people have viewed the post, and over 1,000 people have liked it.
Reality
The professor and a colleague who attested to the incident both stated that the professor was in fact fired from the college when students demonstrated against his religious connection.
Given the delicate nature of the subject, the professor, who wished to remain nameless, had been teaching Pakistan Studies and Urdu at the university for eleven years. He clarified to Fact Check that he was being accused of being an Ahmadi by students who started yelling and demonstrating on September 9.
The college management called the professor shortly after and suggested that he look for another position.
The story was confirmed by another unnamed college professor, who also confirmed that the lecturer had been fired for “religious reasons.” This professor resigned in solidarity, claiming that other teachers and students had launched an unfair campaign.
