Benjamin Netanyahu will be visiting Washington to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump, who announced Monday that he intends to speak with Netanyahu.
Speaking to reporters on Air Force One, Trump stated that the in-person meeting would happen “very soon” but did not provide a date.
The conference takes place during a precarious six-week ceasefire that has temporarily stopped 15 months of fighting in Gaza between Israel and the Islamist organization Hamas.
Trump also stated on Monday that he wants Egypt to accept Palestinians from Gaza, where Israel’s military response to Hamas’ October 7, 2023 onslaught has forced a large portion of the population to flee.
