By promising “all hell to pay” if hostages held in Gaza are not freed by the time he arrives to the White House on January 20, US President-elect Donald Trump appears to be scaring Hamas.
There are still dozens of individuals missing after the Hamas strike on October 7, 2023. The Israeli military confirmed Monday that an Israeli-American soldier it thought was a hostage had actually been slain in October of last year.
The same day, Trump wrote on the internet, without specifically naming Hamas: “Those responsible will be hit harder than anybody has been hit in the long and storied history of the United States of America.”
Trump’s “strong statement” was praised by Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu.
In general, Trump has advocated for resolving international disputes.
