Donald Trump shifted his attention to the New Hampshire primary, where Nikki Haley hopes to stymie the front-runner, after securing a historic victory in Iowa, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Haley, who came in third place behind Ron DeSantis in the Iowa primary, hopes for better fortune in the New Hampshire primary on January 23 by targeting the state’s moderate voters.
Recognizing Trump’s triumph in Iowa, Haley focused on her chances in New Hampshire, portraying the Republican primary as a contest between two candidates.
Although she acknowledged that there were good things about Trump’s presidency, she also said that the GOP’s prospects of defeating President Biden in November could be hampered by the scandals around him.
A head-to-head contest is indicated by Trump’s rally in the southern half of the state and Haley’s appearance in the northern section. According to recent surveys, Haley may reduce Trump’s lead and make the race competitive. Prior to Iowa, surveys had DeSantis at slightly less than 6%, Haley at 30%, and Trump at 43%.
Trump is in a great position after his impressive success in Iowa, and a solid victory in New Hampshire might put an end to the opposition. But according to the campaign, it might take until March to gather the necessary number of delegates for the nomination.
With DeSantis addressing worries about a liberal takeover and Haley uniting support among Republicans with college degrees, the contenders opposing Trump sought to capitalize on discontent.
But as early results show, Trump is very popular with a wide range of voters, which poses a significant issue.Though caucus attendees had serious concerns about school curricula, DeSantis had little chance against Trump given his wide base of support.
