After Pete Hegseth’s nomination was heavily criticized, News reported that Trump is thinking of replacing Hegseth with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
Hegseth’s credentials have come under scrutiny since Trump nominated the former Fox News personality, and there has been a resurfaced accusation of sexual assault.
Hegseth was never arrested or charged, and he has denied any misconduct.
Hegseth told reporters on Wednesday that he had previously spoken with Trump, but he did not directly address the DeSantis reports.
“Keep fighting, keep going,” he added. “I’m with you every step of the way,” Hegseth declared.
Hegseth accused “the Left” of attempting to discredit him with “fake” articles in a post on X on Wednesday morning.
