In a video he posted on Monday, Mr. Jenrick argued that the UK should withdraw from the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) because, among other things, he said the court is pressuring the SAS to “kill rather than capture” terrorists out of concern that detainees may be freed in accordance with EU human rights law.
One of the four candidates for Tory leader, Mr. Tugendhat, claimed to have known one of the soldiers in the video from his time serving in the Afghan army.
What’s particularly upsetting is that the video uses footage of some of the people I served with, one of whom died shortly after that film was taken in an accident. The former army officer, who also served in Iraq, told News that he is unable to defend himself against the charge that is effectively being made against him.
I disagree that footage of our special forces in action should be used.
