KARACHI: The Sindh Health Department stated on Thursday that two more fatalities linked to the heatwave that has been plaguing Karachi over the past several days had been recorded as the city’s temperature rises dangerously high.
The health officials stated that with the two deaths recorded at Civil Hospital, the total number of heat stroke-related deaths from June to this point has reached 51.
Despite the power utility’s claims, the port city has been experiencing a heatwave for the past few days, making life miserable for the majority of people who must endure hours-long unscheduled load shedding.
The temperature in the city one day earlier was an oppressive 40.5°C, which felt more like a searing 56°C.
The feels like temperature is determined by the sense of actual heat or cold experienced outside and is dependent on a number of environmental factors, such as humidity, air temperature, and wind speed, all of which together affect how people perceive the weather based on their exposure.
According to meteorologists, the felt temperature in a particular place, known as the “feels like” temperature, might be greater than the actual temperature due to several environmental factors.
After interacting with the temperature reflected from the Earth’s surface, the human body detects this temperature.
In addition, the health department disclosed that in the previous day, around fifty cases of heatstroke were documented.
