On the day of his bout with Usyk, in which he lost his WBC world heavyweight title, Fury explained how his wife, Paris, was six months pregnant when she lost what would have been their ninth child.
Fury, in agony, stated: She was six months pregnant. You have to physically give birth to a dead child while your spouse is abroad, so it’s not like a minor miscarriage at some point. It’s not good to go through that alone.
According to Fury, “I knew there was a problem” even though his wife had not told him about the miscarriage prior to the altercation.
Fury insisted that his performance in the fight against Usyk, which he believes he won but which was decided by split decision in favor of the Ukrainian, was unaffected by his wife’s miscarriage.
Hell no, it’s not an excuse. I am an honorable man. “When I’m in there, I do what I have to do,” he added.
The IBF title will not be up for grabs when the rivals rematch on December 21 because Usyk decided to give it up rather than make a necessary defense.
After defeating Anthony Joshua at Wembley Stadium last month, Daniel Dubois was able to keep his title as the current IBF champion.
