Significant revisions to the UK government’s guidelines regarding criminal record checks for volunteer work, foreign employment, and visa applications went into force on December 11.
Stronger security measures, adherence to UK immigration laws, and an easier application process for companies and candidates are the goals of these upgrades.
Candidates with foreign experience must have their criminal records checked by employers in the health and education sectors. Although it is not required by law, it is regarded as excellent practice in other industries.
A criminal record certificate from each country where the applicant has resided for at least 12 months during the previous ten years is required for visa applicants in categories like the skilled worker route (if 18 or older).
