As part of the UK’s transition to a digital immigration system, UK High Commissioner to Pakistan Jane Marriott has announced steps to streamline the visa application process for Pakistanis visiting the UK.
The British High Commission in Islamabad released a statement stating that the UK has expanded its e-Visa services to include additional biometric users, enabling applicants to check their immigration status online. To use the e-Visa system, visitors will need to have an online account with UKVI (UK Visas and Immigration), but they are not needed to register one.
The announcement stated, “The UK immigration system is going digital,” and it added that an online immigration status will take the place of paper records.
The announcement also stated that a UKVI account would not be required for people who were granted a UK visa for a duration shorter than six months, such as for tourism.
