The UK’s armed services currently have 28 new ships and submarines in the design or building stages, according to Defence Secretary Grant Shapps, who spoke with News.
Concerning the six new warships he unveiled today for the Royal Marines, there is less clarity. He stressed that 22 ships are “already in the system.”.
The government is committed to three of the new “versatile” ships for the Marines, “and then possibly another three as well,” according to the defense secretary.
This is “the golden era of shipbuilding, a very, very large shipbuilding program with a lot of warships,” he declared.
