The Office has issued an amber warning for rain in north Wales and northwest England, including Manchester and Liverpool, for 24 hours beginning at midday on Wednesday.
According to the forecaster, fast-flowing or deep floodwater is “likely,” with a good likelihood that certain cities may be cut off, experience power outages, and have train and bus services cancelled.
A yellow rain warning is in effect for the north of England, the Midlands, and north and central Wales until 6 a.m. on Thursday, with another in effect for southern and eastern Scotland from midday today to 6 p.m. tomorrow.
Much of the south coast is likely to see lightning, and a yellow thunderstorm warning is in effect from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
