LONDON: Pakistani-American technology entrepreneur Zia Chishti has received damages and an extraordinary sequence of apologies from Britain’s top newspaper, The Telegraph, for publishing claims that he had committed sexual misconduct.
A former employee’s claims that he had harassed and assaulted Tatiana Spottiswoode were republished in thirteen articles published by The Telegraph between November 2021 and February 2023, which prompted Chishti to file a lawsuit against the Telegraph Media Group (publisher of the Daily Telegraph and the Telegraph online) in the UK High Court.
For more than two years, Chishti, whose full name is Muhammad Ziaullah Khan Chishti, fought a difficult legal struggle with the paper in London. During this time, thousands of documents were disclosed and reviewed between Chishti and Spottiswoode.
