A spokesperson for the UN Secretary General said that the organization has opened an inquiry into the mysterious hit that killed its first foreign employee in Gaza on Monday, October 7, on a UN car in Rafah.
Waibhav Anil Kale, a retired Indian Army officer, was part of the UN Department of Safety and Security staff. He was traveling to the European Hospital in Rafah with a colleague who had also been hurt in the incident.
Israel has been advancing more into the southern Gazan enclave of Rafah, where over a million people have taken refuge. On Tuesday, its forces launched some of the most intense attacks on the enclave’s north in months.
