The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) has stepped up its efforts to combat collusive activities and monopolies in a number of different industries.
The commission is aggressively pursuing the recovery of outstanding fines totaling Rs68 billion in an effort to significantly enforce competition regulations. Major businesses under investigation include the telecom, automotive, and insurance sectors.
The CCP successfully gathered Rs700 million in fines from a variety of businesses, including sugar, cement, cooking oil, poultry, paints, and drinks, for the first time in a year. This is a significant accomplishment in the commission’s continuous fight against unfair corporate practices.
The commission’s comprehensive focus on safeguarding consumer rights is further demonstrated by the fact that deceptive marketing methods have also been detected in the electronics, glass, and e-commerce sectors.
