Within the next two weeks, songs by some of the biggest artists in the world, such as Drake, Adele, and Billie Eilish, will once again be available for usage on the website thanks to a new license agreement.
The largest record label in the world, Universal also represents Taylor Swift, who in April permitted the return of a few of her songs to TikTok in order to promote her most recent album, The Tortured Poets Department. According to the Financial Times, Swift’s 2018 contract with Universal gave her ownership of the copyrights to her recordings, allowing her to manage the distribution of her music.
The firms now claim to have reached “a new multi-dimensional” license agreement that will benefit Universal’s labels and artists in “significant industry-leading ways.”
