Universal Studios has confirmed that planning for its first UK theme park is underway, and that the Hollywood behemoth has already purchased a large plot of land for the resort.
Universal currently has attractions in the United States and Asia, and they have chosen Bedford for their first UK location.
A Universal destinations and experiences spokesperson confirmed to Sky News that the company has “acquired land” and is “in the early stages of exploring the feasibility of a potential park and resort at this site.”
“It will be many months before we are ready to make a decision to proceed, and we look forward to engaging with all relevant stakeholders and the local community,” they added.
The studio, which, like Sky, is owned by Comcast, is always looking for new locations to house potential projects.
The Bedford site is only a 15-minute drive from the city center and encompasses acres of land on both sides of Manor Road and Kempston Hardwick station.
