Muslims all throughout the world are getting ready to celebrate the Islamic New Year, which is predicted to begin on July 7, 2024, as the Islamic calendar turns a new leaf.
Depending on whether the moon is visible, Sunday is expected to be the first day of Muharram, the first month in the Islamic calendar.
Muharram is among us, and the Muslim community is getting ready to celebrate Ashura, the tenth of the month’s major day of commemoration.
Ashura, which honors the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS) and his allies at the Battle of Karbala, is a significant historical and religious event.
Pakistan celebrates the Ashura holidays
To commemorate Ashura, the Pakistani government has already declared two public holidays in a row. The fact that these holidays fall on Muharram 9 and 10 guarantees that the celebrations are conducted with the appropriate solemnity and reverence.
However, the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee’s decision regarding the Muharram moon sighting will determine the precise dates of these celebrations. Muharram 1 falls on July 7 if the moon is visible in the evening of July 6. As a result, Ashura will be observed on Monday and Tuesday, July 15 and 16. In this case, July 15 and 16 will also be public holidays.
