Washington: According to The News, which cited the US Department of Justice, American authorities have charged a Pakistani man for allegedly plotting to launch an attack in New York City in support of Daesh.
Shahzeb Jadoon, whose real name is Muhammad Shahzeb Khan, was taken into custody on Wednesday and is suspected of organizing a mass shooting at a Brooklyn Jewish center.
Khan’s goal, according to US Attorney General Merrick Garland, was to murder “as many Jewish people as possible.”
According to the indictment, the suspect—who may spend as much as 20 years in prison—allegedly tried to enter the US from Canada with the intention of using automatic and semi-automatic weapons to carry out the attack.
