Steve Witkoff, the White House’s envoy, is in Qatar to participate in indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas on the extension of the precarious ceasefire in Gaza.
Since President Donald Trump took office on January 20, negotiators from both sides have started meeting with mediators this week. On the eve of his inauguration, the interim truce and the first part of the 42-day Gaza deal went into force.
