The proprietors of Return To Nature Funeral Home in Colorado, Jon and Carie Hallford, are already facing over 200 felony charges in relation to the discovery of 190 decomposing bodies in a storage building infested with bugs last year.
These accusations include giving families dry concrete instead of cremated ashes, collecting money for funerals and cremations they never provided, and twice burying the wrong body. Other claims include corpse abuse, money laundering, theft, and fraud.
They are now accused of spending $882,300 (£708,000) in pandemic relief funds on a variety of items, including trips to California, Florida, and Las Vegas, a GMC Yukon and an Infiniti worth over $120,000, $31,000 in cryptocurrency, laser body sculpting, and upscale merchandise from Gucci and Tiffany & Co.
