Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu seems willing to discuss a truce and the release of hostages held in Gaza, according to visiting U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan on Thursday.
“A truce (in Gaza) and a deal for the release of hostages are our current priorities. Now is the time to complete the task and return all of the hostages home. After meeting with Netanyahu, Sullivan told reporters at the US embassy in Jerusalem’s Tel Aviv annex, “I got the sense from the prime minister he’s ready to do a deal.”
With major mediator Qatar referring to fresh “momentum” last week, there has been increasing hope that a fresh round of negotiations for a ceasefire and hostage release agreement will be successful.
