Washington: On Thursday, the US State Department encouraged the Taliban leaders to prevent terrorists from exploiting Afghanistan’s territory and supported Pakistan’s counterterrorism efforts.
“We support Pakistan’s efforts to combat terrorism and ensure the safety and security of its citizens in a manner that promotes the rule of law and protection of human rights,” a State Department spokesperson said in an interview with News.
The spokesman claimed that no nation should have to endure such acts of terror because the Pakistani people have already suffered tremendously at the hands of terrorists.
“We implore the Taliban to make sure that terrorist organizations, terrorist movements, or terrorist activities are not supported on Afghan territory.
“We have made it quite evident that we will assess the Taliban based on their actions rather than their words. International legitimacy is what the Taliban seeks. According to the official, the Taliban must fulfill their obligations to the international community.
According to the spokesman, the US’s overarching goal in Afghanistan is to prevent terrorists from using the country as a safe haven in the future, particularly those who want to threaten the US, its friends, or partners.
