The strike comes as US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that the Middle East was in a critical state following the deaths of prominent Hamas and Hezbollah officials.
Officials told the News that the Al Asad airbase in western Iraq had been targeted and that the damage was still being assessed.
They have not yet revealed who was behind the attack.
Security sources told news that two Katyusha rockets were fired at the base, one of which fell inside.

A White House official confirmed that President Joe Biden had been briefed on the alleged attack.
In a statement on X, Mr. Biden said he and Vice President Kamala Harris were briefed in the Situation Room on “developments in the Middle East.”
